Can't you use a router for that type of work? Why not?
I like the gutter drain idea if it works. Take lots of pictures please.
BTW: Since you didn't post for a while I forgot my password. So now that you're posting again don't stop or I'll have to go through the pain of trying to reset it again and you'll have to do 25 push-ups for punishment.
i could have used a router but because the floor panels (that i didn't build) have uneven spots the router bit would hit fiberglass and the bit would be trashed in a matter of seconds.
the hammering technique worked great and let me get out my frustrations on the bleak future of boat building.
